Manifesto - Final

 Protect your identity

Think first, post later
Every post made to a social media account like Facebook, or Google+ is letting others know more and more about your personal identity. Don’t share home addresses, phone numbers, birth dates or birthplaces.

Turn locations off when unused
Many applications on smart phones tend to use your location, even when you’re not using the app. Turn them on briefly when needed but take care of how much information is going to be displayed of where you are.

Change passwords regularly
Some websites prompt you for a password change after a few months. Make a habit of changing passwords for your frequently accessed accounts, but not all the same, have two or three.

Two-factor authentication
Link a second email account to your main one as a recovery but don’t use the second one for anything else. Pair your smart phone or another physical object unique to you.

Safeguard your date of birth
Your date of birth is linked with numerous parts of your personal identity, the biggest being your bank account.

Act now tomorrow maybe too late

Masked identity

I first began taking the role of the fleneur exploring, observing and being observed by the city from different angles before shifting to the situationist drifting strategy. I applied it to my context leading myself through the city recognizing the bold brands that sticks out lodging themselves as memories of the paths that i navigated through the city.

In the photos that i have taken i wanted to display the sense of dominance and somewhat masked identity of owners behind brands. I photographed manikins through the store windows of high labeled brands, capturing reflections and their staunch posture. I photographed them like this to relate them to the owners of top labeled brands being masked, unnoticeable when the brands are persuading people into purchasing their goods. The lighting on the faces again shows the dominance and masked identity that they hold.

3-4th iteration of photos

I went out photographing at night soon after 6 o'clock photographing with some sunlight left before getting pitch black and just the lights of surrounding buildings. Found it hard to try and get a strong layer of branded reflections on the glass where the manikins are positioned.

Context

Owners of big labeled companies are mysterious to the public but yet through the branding and advertisement controlling how people spend.

Brainwashed, persuaded,
controlled, the public blinded

Project 2: critical selfie

I tried to take some photos showing a mysterious figure to represent the owners behind dominate high end fashion labels and brands. i wanted to get some more reflections on the stores on the other side of the road bluring out the face more but couldn't quite get it.

Context isn't quite there so will revisit the readings about situationists and find a better way to reproach my idea with the lens.
